Transparent PNG
An image with no background, so whatever is underneath shows through.
The format that matters for a digital stamp. A stamp on a white background dropped onto a document covers the text beneath it with a white box; a transparent one sits over the text the way ink would.
It is also why an uploaded logo needs its white background knocked out before it goes into a seal.
