Every stamp and seal, listed
Estamplab makes 369 kinds of stamp and seal, from a company seal and a notary seal to an engineer seal, a doctor stamp, a bank endorsement and a date stamp. Every one opens in the editor with a template loaded, and downloads as a transparent PNG, an SVG, a PDF or a Word file.

The word changes by trade, and it is not decoration. An engineer, an architect and a land surveyor seal a drawing. A doctor, a bank teller and a school office use a stamp. A notary has a seal in most places and a stamp in a few. A company has both, and in much of Asia the same object is a chop: the last group below lists that same round mark under the word each market uses, from the company chop in China and Hong Kong to the common seal in Ireland and the Firmenstempel in Germany. Each group says which word its trade uses, so you can search for the right thing and put the right word on the mark itself.
A guide for each kind
Every one of these opens an article on that kind of mark: what goes on it, who presses it, what the trade calls it, and the templates for it sitting under the heading ready to open in the editor. Press a template and you get that design loaded, with the wording, the ink colour, the date and your logo all yours to change.

Document and approval marks
These are stamps, never seals. The word "seal" implies the mark identifies who issued the document; APPROVED and PAID say what happened to it, which is a different job.

Company and corporate marks
A company has both. The stamp is the everyday identity mark that goes on invoices and letters; the seal is the formal instrument, conventionally round, historically used to execute deeds. In China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and much of South East Asia the same object is a chop.

Legal and notarial seals
A notary has a seal, and in most US states the word on the commission is literally "seal", even where the article is an inked rubber stamp. A lawyer or advocate uses a stamp. Certified true copy is a stamp because it certifies an act rather than identifying an office.
- Notary seal also called notary stamp

Licensed professional seals
This is the group that says seal. An engineer seals a drawing, a surveyor seals a plat, an architect seals a set: the verb is "to seal" and the noun follows it. The layout is usually set by the state board or the professional council rather than by taste, so start from the one your board publishes.
- Engineer seal also called PE stamp, engineer stamp
- Chartered engineer seal

Medical and clinical stamps
Medicine says stamp. A doctor's stamp carries the name, the registration or council number and the qualification, and it goes beside a signature rather than in place of one. "Physician seal" appears on certificates in a few markets, which is why the template set carries both.
- Doctor stamp also called doctor chop, physician stamp

School, college and university
A school has a stamp, a university has a seal. The dividing line is the document: a stamp goes on a letter, a permission slip or a report card, and a seal goes on the thing that has to survive being presented to a stranger years later, which is a degree, a transcript or a testimonial.

Government and public office seals
Public offices say seal for the office and stamp for the counter. The seal identifies the ministry, the state or the county and is reproduced on anything issued in its name; the stamp is what the clerk presses on your copy to show it was received.
- Government seal also called official stamp, public seal

Banking, accounts and finance
Banking says stamp all the way down, including for the round one. A bank stamp identifies the branch and the teller; an endorsement stamp on the back of a cheque is an instruction, which is why the wording is fixed and the layout is not decorative.

Trade, logistics and inspection
All stamps. An inspection stamp is the one case where the mark has to carry an inspector number as well as a date, because the question it answers later is not whether the goods passed but who said so.

Dates, serial numbers and band stamps
Stamps. A band stamp is the physical article with rubber bands you turn by hand, and it is the single most common source of a wrong date on a document. The digital equivalent fills the date in itself, which is the entire argument.

Personal, wedding and decorative
Here the words swap over: the decorative round ones are sold as seals (wax seal, foil seal, award seal) and the everyday ones are stamps. Nothing in this group has legal weight, so the only rule is whether it reads at the size it will be used.

Logo, art and lettering stamps

By shape, size and colour
Shape is not decoration. A round mark reads as an identity seal, a rectangle reads as a form field, and a triangle reads as an inspection mark, so the shape you pick tells the reader what kind of mark it is before they read a word of it.

These are the same editor reached by the phrase somebody searched for. A self-inking stamp is a mechanism rather than a kind of mark, and an AI stamp generator is a claim rather than a mechanism: both pages say what the phrase actually gets you.

The questions people ask before they make one
Where the word itself is the question. What separates a stamp from a seal, what a company seal actually is, which file format survives a printer, and why a mark sometimes lands as a white box.

The same object, under its local name
This is the section the word question is really about. The identical round mark carrying a company name is a chop in China and Hong Kong, a seal in Singapore, Japan, Ireland, Nigeria and the Philippines, and a stamp in the UK, Germany, France and Kenya. Ask for the wrong one and you get a blank look, or worse, the wrong article. Each page below uses the word that market uses and says what that market expects on the mark.

Questions
Is it a stamp or a seal?
It depends on the trade. Licensed professions seal: an engineer, an architect and a land surveyor apply a seal, and the verb on the drawing is "sealed". Medicine, banking, schools and offices stamp. A notary has a seal in most jurisdictions even where the physical article is an inked rubber stamp. A company has a stamp for everyday identification and a seal for executing documents, and in China, Hong Kong, Japan and much of South East Asia the same object is called a chop.
How many kinds of stamp are there?
This site makes 369 distinct types across eighteen families, from document and approval marks and company seals to licensed professional seals, medical, education, government, banking, trade and inspection, dates and serial numbers, decorative marks, the shape families, the tools for putting a mark on a PDF or a Word file, and the same object under its local name in forty markets.
Which stamp does a small business actually need?
Two, usually. One identity mark carrying the registered name and number, which goes on invoices, letters and quotes, and one dated RECEIVED or PAID mark for the paperwork that comes in. Everything else on this page is a specialisation of one of those two, and most businesses buy three stamps they never press again.
Can I use a digital stamp instead of a rubber one?
For anything that arrives as a PDF, yes, and it is the only version that stays legible after a scan and a forward. Where a physical impression is required, an embossed or inked article on paper is what meets that requirement, and a printed design can be sent to a stamp maker to be cut.
Do I have to pay to see the templates?
No. Designing is free with no account, nothing is watermarked in the editor, and you pay only when you download a finished file.
Estamplab is a design tool. The marks described here follow common commercial practice rather than legal, medical or financial advice, and practice changes. Notarial seals, professional seals and medical stamps are governed by the authority that issued your commission, registration or licence, so check the layout with them. Only produce a mark you or your organisation are entitled to use.
