Estamp maker: an e-stamp for documents
An e-stamp, or electronic stamp, is a stamp applied to a document as a file instead of with ink, and it is worth separating from government e-stamping schemes, which are a way of paying stamp duty rather than a way of marking a document.

Every preview on this page carries a faint Estamplab watermark. Your own download does not: the editor renders your stamp again, clean, as a transparent PNG, an SVG or a PDF. See the full template library.
The word e-stamp is used for two unrelated things and searching for it returns both. In several countries, India and Saudi Arabia among them, e-stamping is the electronic payment of stamp duty: a certificate issued by a revenue authority against a transaction, bought through an approved channel, and nothing to do with how a document looks. The other meaning, and the one this tool serves, is an electronic stamp image that an organisation applies to its own documents in place of a rubber stamp. If you came here for duty, this is not it, and no design tool can issue one.
What you get
- An e-stamp with a date that resolves at the moment of download, so the mark records when the document was handled rather than when the artwork was drawn.
- A serial number issued from a server side counter, so each e-stamp applied carries a reference that has not been used before.
- Transparent output, so the e-stamp sits on the PDF or the Word file rather than on a white rectangle over the text.
- Round, oval and rectangular layouts, covering the received, paid, approved and certified marks that most e-stamping of documents actually involves.
- A Word version that keeps the date and the reference as live text, for templates that are reused every week.
- Designs are saved to your library, so the same e-stamp is reapplied consistently instead of being redrawn each time.
How to make it
- Open the stamp maker and pick a shape, or start from a template.
- Type your wording, then set the colour, border and size.
- Add the date, time, serial number or logo, and position each one.
- Preview it live, then download. Designing and previewing are free.
Questions
What is an e-stamp?
In the document sense it is an electronic stamp: an image applied to a file to mark it as received, paid, approved or certified, taking the place of a rubber stamp. In the revenue sense, used in India, Saudi Arabia and elsewhere, e-stamping means paying stamp duty electronically and receiving a certificate from the authority. The two share a name and nothing else.
Can I buy an e-stamp certificate or pay stamp duty here?
No. Stamp duty is collected by a revenue authority through its own approved channels, and only that authority can issue the certificate. This tool makes stamp and seal images for documents. If duty is what you need, go to the relevant government portal or an authorised collection centre.
Is an electronic stamp legally valid on a document?
An applied stamp image carries the same weight as the rubber stamp it replaces, which in most places is evidential rather than binding on its own, and it is usually the signature beside it that does the work. What a particular recipient or regulator accepts is set by them, so check their requirements rather than assuming. Only apply a stamp on behalf of an organisation you are entitled to represent.
How do I apply an e-stamp to a PDF?
Download the transparent PNG and place it over the page in any PDF editor, or upload the document here and position the stamp on it directly, which avoids the usual problem of a pasted image arriving with a white background.
Is an e-stamp free?
Designing and previewing are free with no account. The download is $1.50 for one image format or $3.00 for every format together, paid once rather than as a subscription.
