Digital stamp maker, free to design

A digital stamp is a stamp you apply as a file rather than with rubber and ink, and the useful ones hold the date and the reference number as live fields that resolve when the stamp is used, rather than as pixels drawn in on the day it was designed.

Every preview on this page carries a faint Estamplab watermark. Your own download does not: the editor renders your stamp again, clean, as a transparent PNG, an SVG or a PDF. See the full template library.

Most things sold as a digital stamp are a picture of a stamp. That is fine for a decorative mark and it fails the moment the stamp has to carry information: the date is wrong by the next morning, the reference number is identical on every document, and the file arrives with a white box behind it. A digital stamp worth having is built the other way round, as artwork plus a few fields that are still instructions at the point of download, so one design produces a correct impression every time it is used.

Questions

What is a digital stamp?

A digital stamp is an image of a stamp or seal made to be applied to a file. The term covers two quite different things: a flat picture, which is what most free digital stamp downloads are, and a stamp with live fields, where the date and the serial are filled in at the moment of use. The second kind is the one that stays correct on the hundredth document.

Is a digital stamp free?

Designing and previewing a digital stamp are free, with no account and nothing written over the preview. The file is $1.50 for one image format or $3.00 for every format zipped, paid once rather than monthly.

What is the difference between a digital stamp and a scan of a rubber stamp?

A scan carries the paper it was pressed on. It arrives slightly grey, slightly skewed, with the fibre of the sheet in the ink, and it has no transparency, so it lands on a document inside a rectangle. A digital stamp drawn as vector artwork has clean edges at any size and real transparency, and nothing about it has to be cut out afterwards.

What size should a digital stamp be?

Match the physical stamp it stands in for, which is usually between 38mm and 56mm across for a round seal. The download is tagged with that real size, so an editor that reads the tag places it correctly, and a second copy at insert size is included for editors that ignore the tag and would otherwise place the full resolution file far too large.

Can I use a digital stamp on a PDF?

Yes, and it is the most common use. Place the transparent PNG over the page in any PDF editor, or upload the document here and position the stamp on it directly, which avoids the step where a pasted image arrives on a white background.
