Microsoft Word stamp, with the date as live text
A Microsoft Word stamp is a stamp placed into a Word document, and the version worth having arrives as a .docx in which the date and the reference number are still real text you can retype, rather than a flat picture with the date painted into it.

Every preview on this page carries a faint Estamplab watermark. Your own download does not: the editor renders your stamp again, clean, as a transparent PNG, an SVG or a PDF. See the full template library.
Putting a stamp into Word goes wrong in two predictable ways. The first is the white box: an image copied out of a photo viewer and pasted into the document arrives on a white rectangle, because Windows hands a copied image over as a plain bitmap with no transparency. The second is the date: a stamp saved as a picture shows the day it was made, forever, on every document the template is reused for. Both are fixable, and the fix for the second is to let Word hold the date as text rather than as pixels.
What you get
- A Word download in which the date and the serial are real text in the document, so you click into them and retype rather than redoing the image.
- The stamp arrives already floating, so it can be dragged over the text instead of landing inline and pushing the paragraph down the page.
- A transparent PNG alongside it for the times you want a picture, with no white rectangle behind the seal.
- A second copy at insert size, because Word reads the size tag correctly but several other editors assume 96 DPI and would place the full resolution file far too large.
- The same stamp works in Google Docs and LibreOffice, where the image route is the same and only the menu names differ.
- Auto filling dates can be switched off if you want the date fixed to a particular day rather than resolving each time.
How to make it
- Open the stamp maker and pick a shape, or start from a template.
- Type your wording, then set the colour, border and size.
- Add the date, time, serial number or logo, and position each one.
- Preview it live, then download. Designing and previewing are free.
Questions
How do I insert a stamp into a Microsoft Word document?
Use Insert, then Pictures, then This Device, and choose the PNG, or drag the file from the folder onto the page. Do not copy the image out of a photo viewer and paste it, because that strips the transparency and the stamp arrives on a white box.
How do I make a stamp float over the text in Word?
Right click the image, choose Wrap Text, then In Front of Text, and it can be dragged anywhere on the page. Floating is a property of the document rather than of the image file, which is why the Word download here is set up that way already and a plain PNG cannot be.
Why does my stamp have a white background in Word?
Either the file is a JPEG, which has no transparency at all, or the image was copied and pasted rather than inserted. Insert a transparent PNG from the file itself and the background disappears.
Can the date in a Word stamp update automatically?
The date is inserted as editable text, so you can retype it in a second rather than rebuilding the image. If you want the date resolved fresh at the moment of download instead, leave the date field empty in the designer and download again.
Can I use the same stamp in Google Docs?
Yes. Insert, then Image, then Upload from computer, then set the image to Wrap text or In front of text. Google Docs handles PNG transparency the same way Word does.
