On a construction or engineering project the approval stamp is the record of a review, and it is read months later by somebody trying to establish what was approved and when. That is why the useful ones carry four things rather than a single word. The wording of the outcomes is usually set by the contract or the design firm rather than chosen freely, because the difference between "approved" and "approved as noted" is a difference in liability.

Questions
What should a shop drawing approval stamp say?
The outcome, the reviewer's name and firm, the date, and the project or submittal reference. Most design firms also require a disclaimer on the block, along the lines that review is for general conformance with the design concept only and does not relieve the contractor of responsibility for dimensions, quantities or means and methods. Use your own firm's wording: it is usually specified in the contract documents rather than left to preference.
What are the standard review outcomes?
APPROVED, APPROVED AS NOTED, REVISE AND RESUBMIT, and REJECTED are the common set, with NOT REQUIRED FOR REVIEW or FOR RECORD ONLY sometimes added. The exact terms and what each means are set by the specification, and using a term the specification does not define is how a submittal argument starts.
Can it go on a large-format drawing?
Yes. The stamp is sized in real millimetres, so a block that reads correctly on an A1 sheet is set at the size it will print rather than scaled to the screen. Place it in the title block area where the reviewer would press it.
Can I stamp a whole submittal package at once?
Yes, either every page of a package in one action, or a run of separate files through batch stamping, each taking its own date and number. For a submittal log where each review needs its own reference, the sequential number is what makes the batch traceable afterwards.
Is an invoice approval stamp the same thing?
Same idea, shorter block. An invoice approval stamp carries APPROVED FOR PAYMENT, the approver, the date, and usually a coding line for the account or cost centre, which is the part accounts payable actually needs. It is worth keeping the two separate, because a drawing review and a payment authorisation are different decisions by different people.
