A digital company seal is the same mark as the pressed or rubber one, in a form a document can carry. The reason to have one is arithmetic: a physical seal lives in one drawer, in one office, and every document that needs it has to travel to it and back. A digital one is in the hands of whoever you give it to, on the same day, and it does not degrade every time it is used.

Questions
Is a digital company seal valid?
For most commercial documents an electronic mark is accepted the same way a scanned one is, and it is what a great many businesses now use. Where a specific formality is required, for example an embossed seal on a deed or a document being filed with a registry, that requirement comes from the law of the place or from the receiving body, and it is worth confirming before relying on the electronic version.
What should a company seal say?
The registered company name, and usually the registration number and the place of incorporation. Some jurisdictions expect the word "SEAL" on it. Copy your certificate of incorporation exactly, because a seal that disagrees with the register is the one that gets questioned.
Is a chop the same as a seal?
Practically, yes: chop is the word used across much of Asia for the company mark, seal is the word used elsewhere, and both mean the mark that identifies the company. The layout conventions differ, and the maker handles both.
Can I have both a seal and a signature stamp?
Yes, and they do different jobs. The seal identifies the company; the signature stamp identifies a person. Documents that need both usually carry the signature with the seal beside or slightly over it.
What size should a digital company seal be?
Around 38 to 45mm across for a round seal, which is the size of the physical one and prints legibly at normal document scale. Bigger reads as decoration.
Do I need a company seal?
In most common law countries, no: a company can execute documents without one, and many never have one. What actually happens is that a bank, a registry, a landlord or a counterparty asks for one on a specific document, which is when the question arrives. Where a seal is required, that requirement comes from local law or from the party asking, so it is worth confirming with them.
When is a company seal required?
Most often for deeds, share certificates, powers of attorney and documents going to a registry or a bank that has its own rule about it. Ordinary commercial contracts and invoices rarely require one, though counterparties in many markets expect to see one anyway.

Do I need a company stamp in Europe?
It varies more than people expect. Germany and much of central Europe use a Firmenstempel as a matter of habit on invoices and forms without it being legally required. France, the Netherlands and the Nordics use them far less. Nowhere in the EU is a stamp what makes a contract binding, but plenty of counterparties and public offices still expect one.
