The registered name and the registration number are what a bank, a registry or a counterparty cross-checks, so a trading name that does not match the certificate is the commonest reason a stamped document is sent back. Where a chop carries legal weight, notably in mainland China, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Japan and Korea, its form and its custody are governed locally and a chop is controlled far more tightly than a signature. What does company chop mean?
It is the company seal: a round stamp, usually red, that a company presses onto documents to bind itself. In much of Asia the chop carries the authority that a signature carries elsewhere, which is why it is kept locked up and why who holds it is a real question in a company. If your documents are paper that a counterparty will physically hold, or if a registry in your jurisdiction requires a registered physical chop, then yes, get one carved and register it. That is a real requirement and this does not replace it. Why are company chops red?
Convention, and a practical reason underneath it. The traditional seal paste is a red cinnabar ink, and red carried the sense of an official mark long before any of this was digital. The practical part still holds: a red seal is instantly separable from black body text and from a blue ink signature, and it survives a photocopy as an obviously separate mark rather than blurring into the paragraph it sits on. Red is the default here for that reason, and it is changeable if your company uses another colour.
Can a company chop carry our logo?
Yes. Upload it and the white background is knocked out so the logo reads as ink rather than as a white square dropped into the middle of the seal. Keep it simple: a chop is pressed at around 40mm and a logo with fine detail or thin lettering turns to mush at that size, so a mark that works is usually a single shape.
