A seal on a PDF fails in one of two ways, and both are visible from across the room. Either it arrives inside a white rectangle, because it was pasted from a screenshot or saved as a JPG, or it has been stretched to fit a box and the circle is now an oval. A seal is a round mark and reads as one; the moment it is squashed, everybody who looks at the document knows something was done to it in a hurry. Uploading the file means the seal is placed at its own proportions, on a transparent background, and drawn into the page rather than laid on top as an object somebody can drag away.

Questions
How do I add a seal to a PDF without Acrobat?
Upload the PDF here, click the spot where the seal belongs, and download the sealed copy. It runs in the browser, so there is no software to install and no account to create, and the file itself never leaves your machine.
Why does my seal have a white square around it?
Because the image is a JPG, or a PNG that was flattened onto white. JPG has no transparency at all. A seal needs a transparent background so the document shows through the gaps in the ink. Seals made here are transparent from the start, and a logo you upload has its white background knocked out.
Can the seal be removed from the PDF afterwards?
Not by dragging it out. It is drawn into the page rather than added as a separate annotation object, so there is nothing to select and copy. No file format can prevent a screenshot, but the easy route is closed.
Will the PDF still be searchable after sealing?
Yes. Only the seal is drawn onto the page; the text underneath is untouched, so it stays selectable, searchable and readable by a screen reader.
Can I put the seal on every page?
One page at a time here, which is what most documents need. For a whole run of files, or every page of a long submission, the bulk service handles it rather than you clicking three hundred times.
Is a sealed PDF legally binding?
The seal is not what makes it binding. A seal image identifies who issued the document; a qualified electronic signature is the instrument that carries legal weight for an electronic file. What a particular document needs is set by whoever receives it, so check the requirement with them.
