Every preview on this page carries a faint Estamplab watermark. Your own download does not: the editor renders your stamp again, clean, as a transparent PNG, an SVG or a PDF. See the full template library.

A notary working from PDFs spends more time on the printer than on the notarial act. The document arrives by email, and the only way to get a seal onto it is to print it, seal it, scan it and send it back, losing quality at every step. Placing the seal on the page directly removes the round trip. What you place is what the recipient sees, at full resolution, in the same minute the document arrived.

Questions

Is a digital notary seal legally valid?

That depends entirely on the jurisdiction, and it is not a question this page can answer for you. Whether a notarial act can be performed on an electronic document, whether an electronic seal is recognised, and what has to accompany it are set by the commissioning authority in your state or country. Some require an approved electronic notarisation platform with identity verification and a tamper-evident signature; an image of a seal is not that. Check the requirement with your commissioning authority before relying on it.

What is this tool for, then?

It is a design and placement tool. It puts your seal where you want it on a document and describes common commercial practice rather than giving legal advice. Where your rules permit a seal to be applied to an electronic copy, this saves the print and scan. Where they require a registered electronic notarisation system, use that system.

Can I make a seal for a notary I am not?

No, and it is worth saying plainly. A notarial seal may only be used by the commissioned notary it belongs to, and creating or applying somebody else’s seal is forgery. You must be entitled to use the seal you place.

What goes on a notarial seal?

It differs sharply by jurisdiction: typically the notary name, the words Notary Public, the commissioning authority or state, and often the commission number and expiry date. Because the required elements are set by the state or authority, take the wording from your own commission rather than from a template.

Does the seal stay sharp when printed?

Yes. It is drawn into the page at print resolution rather than pasted in as a screenshot, so a sealed PDF prints as cleanly as the original document.

Estamplab is a design tool. This page describes common commercial practice rather than giving legal, tax or financial advice, and practice changes. Where a specific document matters, check the requirement with the body receiving it. Only produce a mark your own organisation or your own credentials are entitled to use.
