A certificate without a seal reads as a draft, and the seal is usually the last thing anybody thinks about. It matters most on the documents that get checked later: training certificates an employer will verify, school certificates a university will ask to see, membership certificates that carry a number. The seal is what makes the document look issued rather than typed, and it is also where the issuing body name and the reference number belong.

Questions
What goes on a certificate seal?
The name of the issuing body around the ring, and in the centre either an emblem, the word Seal, or the certificate number. Where the body is accredited or registered, the registration number belongs on the seal too, because that is the thing a verifier looks for.
Should each certificate have a unique number?
If anybody might verify it, yes. A certificate number that increments and is recorded against a name is the difference between a document that can be checked and one that can only be believed. A saved stamp here carries its own counter that cannot hand out the same number twice.
Can I seal two hundred certificates?
Not one at a time, sensibly. That is what the bulk service is for: send the run and get them back sealed and numbered. Ask through the corporate request form with the volume and the format.
Does a seal make a certificate official?
It makes it look issued, which is not the same as making it valid. What gives a certificate standing is the authority of the body issuing it. Only apply the seal of a body you are entitled to use.
Will it print well on heavy paper?
Yes. The seal is drawn into the page at print resolution, so it holds up on the card stock certificates are usually printed on.
