A bank stamp is a restrictive endorsement in stamp form. FOR DEPOSIT ONLY with an account number on the back of a cheque limits what can be done with it if it is lost or intercepted, which is why banks ask for it and why businesses that handle cheques in volume stamp rather than write. The wording matters more than the design here, and it is worth getting from your own bank rather than from a template.

Questions
What should a for deposit only stamp say?
Usually FOR DEPOSIT ONLY, the account name, and the account number, on the back of the cheque in the endorsement area. Your bank may specify the exact wording it wants, and where it does, use theirs.
Does a deposit stamp actually protect the cheque?
A restrictive endorsement limits how the cheque can be handled: it tells anybody who receives it that it is for deposit to that account only. It is a control, not a guarantee, and banks treat it as one factor among several.
Can I use a digital bank stamp on a scanned cheque?
For a remote or mobile deposit, the bank sets the rules, and many require a physical endorsement on the paper before the image is taken. Check with them before relying on a digital mark for a deposit.
What colour should a bank stamp be?
Black or dark blue. Cheque clearing runs on scanned images, and a pale or red endorsement can drop out of a scan entirely.
