Freight is a chain of handovers, and every dispute in it comes down to the same question: who had it, and when. A dated mark at each handover is the cheapest answer to that question anybody has found.

The marks along the chain
Collected. Carrier name, date, time, driver or vehicle reference. Goes on the consignment note.
Shipped. Applied when the goods leave. Carries the date and usually the consignment or booking reference. See the shipped stamp.
Goods received. The one at the far end, and the one that gets disputed. Date, time, and a name. See the goods received stamp.
Received in good condition, or received subject to inspection. These are not the same mark and the difference is the whole point: one closes the question of condition and one leaves it open. A warehouse that presses the first on a pallet it has not looked inside has given away its position.
Cleared. For customs and clearing agents, with the entry reference. See the clearing agent stamp and the freight forwarder stamp.
What belongs on a courier mark
QUICKLINE COURIERS Consignment: .............. Date: .............. Time: ...... Received by: ..............
Four lines. The time matters here in a way it does not in most offices, because delivery windows are contractual and a date alone does not evidence one. The received stamp maker carries a time field.
The reference number problem
A consignment reference that repeats makes two shipments indistinguishable in a records search, which is exactly when you need them distinguished. A hand-turned numbering stamp repeats whenever somebody forgets to advance it.
The batch number stamp creator and the sequential number stamp generator issue each reference once and cannot issue it again.
Marks on documents that never print
Proof of delivery is increasingly a PDF or a photo, and the paperwork behind it, rate confirmations, delivery notes, customs entries, is email. A digital mark applied to the file directly records the handover without a printer at a loading dock, which is a place printers do not survive.

The honest limits
Estamplab is a design tool. This page describes common commercial practice rather than giving legal or contractual advice, and what a signature or mark on a consignment note commits a carrier or a consignee to differs by jurisdiction and by the terms of carriage, so take advice on anything contested.
Only produce a mark your own organisation is entitled to use.
The rest of the range is on the stamp and seal directory.
