Every preview on this page carries a faint Estamplab watermark. Your own download does not: the editor renders your stamp again, clean, as a transparent PNG, an SVG or a PDF. See the full template library.

A logo inside a seal is the arrangement most businesses want and the one most likely to come out badly, because two things are competing for a 40mm circle. The rule that makes it work is simple: the logo goes in the middle and gets smaller than you think, and the words go round the ring and stay readable. A logo that fills the circle turns the seal into a badge, and a badge does not read as a seal.

Questions

Will my logo work inside a seal?

Simple shapes do. Fine detail, gradients and thin type do not survive being reduced to about 15mm and printed in one colour. If the logo has a simplified or single colour version, that is the one to use.

Do I need a transparent logo file?

It helps, but a logo on a white background is handled: the white is knocked out on upload so the seal shows through around it rather than the logo arriving on a square.

Should the logo be the same colour as the seal?

Usually yes. A stamp is an impression of one ink, so a full colour logo inside a blue ring reads as a printed graphic rather than a stamp. Where the brand colour is the point, make the whole seal that colour.

How big should the logo be inside the seal?

Small enough that the ring text is not crowded, which is usually about a third of the diameter. The words are what identify the company; the logo is what makes it recognisable at a glance.
