This is the one place where the honest answer is a detour, and it is worth explaining rather than pretending otherwise. A Word document has pages. A PDF has pages. An Excel worksheet has neither: it is a grid that only becomes pages at the moment it is printed, and where those page breaks fall depends on the column widths, the print area and the scaling. A chop placed on the worksheet is anchored to cells, so inserting a row moves it, and the person who opens it next may not see it where you left it at all.

Questions
Why not put the picture straight into Excel?
You can, and for a quick internal sheet it is fine. The problem is that a picture in Excel is anchored to cells, so it moves when rows or columns are inserted, it can be dragged by anybody who opens the file, and it may straddle a page break when the sheet is printed. None of that happens to a stamped PDF.
Does exporting to PDF lose anything?
It loses the formulas, which is usually the point: you are sending a statement of what the numbers are, not a working model. Set the print area and check the page breaks before exporting, because that is what fixes the layout.
What about a chop on an invoice generated from Excel?
Export that invoice sheet to PDF and stamp it. It is also the version you want to keep, because the PDF is what the customer received while the spreadsheet keeps changing.
Can I stamp several sheets at once?
Export the workbook to a single PDF, which puts each sheet on its own page, then stamp the pages you need. For a recurring monthly run, the bulk service handles the whole batch.
Will you support .xlsx directly?
Not today, and saying so is more useful than half doing it. Until a spreadsheet has real pages, a stamp on it cannot be guaranteed to stay where it was put, and a stamp that moves is worse than no stamp.
