One document at a time is the right shape for one document. It is entirely the wrong shape for a data room, a tender pack, a set of case files or a month of statements going out under a client name, where the same mark belongs on every page of every file. Batch watermarking treats the run as the unit: one setting, applied everywhere, returned in one go.

How to make it

Questions
How many files counts as a batch?
Past about twenty it is faster to send the run than to do them by hand. There is no upper limit that matters: data rooms of several thousand documents are the normal case.
Can each document carry a different watermark?
Yes, and it is the main reason people ask. Each file takes its own text, typically the name of whoever received it, which is what makes a leaked copy traceable to the recipient rather than merely marked as confidential.
Do the originals change?
No. What comes back is a marked copy of each file, and the originals you sent are untouched.
What about the documents themselves?
Handling is agreed before anything is sent, including how long files are kept and how they are returned. For a data room or anything carrying personal data, that conversation happens first, in writing.
