Wax seal
A blob of melted wax stamped with a die, historically used to close and authenticate a letter.
Its original purpose was tamper evidence: breaking the seal to open the letter destroyed it visibly.
Now almost entirely decorative, on invitations, certificates and premium stationery, where a digital imitation of the look is usually what is actually wanted.
