A date stamp generator builds the block rather than the individual impression: a label, a date field and usually a line for initials. The date field is the part that distinguishes a generator from a drawing tool. It is a placeholder in the design, not typed text, so the same saved stamp produces today’s date every time it is downloaded rather than the date it was built.

Insert the date placeholder rather than typing a date.
Add a ruled line if somebody initials beside it.

Generated versus typed, and why it matters later

A typed date is frozen the moment you type it. Download the file six weeks later and it still says the day you designed it, which is how a received stamp ends up asserting the wrong arrival date on every document in a batch. A placeholder is evaluated at download. The distinction costs nothing to get right at design time and is invisible until it has gone wrong on fifty documents.

Questions

Does the date change after I place it on a PDF?

No. Once placed, the image is flat and the date in it is fixed, which is correct: a stamped document should not silently re-date itself. The field resolves at download, and that download is the record.

Can it carry a time too?

Yes. Mailrooms and front desks often need it, because the question in a deadline dispute is frequently whether something arrived before 5pm rather than on which day.
